Every January, I catch wind of the same story playing out.

A creative team starts the year fired up. Leadership rolls out big goals. Everyone nods along.

Then the real work starts… and all that clarity disappears.

People stay busy, but no one’s sure if they’re working on what actually matters. Urgency wins. Focus fades. And everyone quietly starts guessing again.

Here’s the thing—this isn’t a motivation problem.
It’s a translation problem.

In this week’s column, I break down why annual goals don’t work for creative teams (at least, not on their own) and what strong leaders do differently to keep clarity alive week after week.
